Western Classes
- Halter Open – the horse to be judged on its conformation.
No stallions allowed.
- Showmanship – English or Western – Senior Horses
to be shown in hand at a walk and trot as directed by Judge. Showmanship
to be judged: 20% - appearance and grooming; 80% - manner in which horse
is shown to the Judge. No whips. Suitable tack and attire. -

Western Pleasure Senior Horse to be judged on performance,
condition and conformation. Horse to be shown both ways of the ring at all
3 gaits with a reasonably loose rein and light contact. Horses will be required
to back up easily and stand quietly. he Judge may request extension of gaits. -

- **Western Pleasure Junior Same as class 40 -

- **Western Pleasure Child same as class 40 -

- Walk/Trot Pleasure--Open same as class 40,
but rider may not enter any other class.
- Greenhorse Pleasure-- Open same as class
40 but horse never to have won 3 first place ribbons under current rider
- **Western Horsemanship/Equitation Senior – Pattern
will be posted. Rider may be required to ride at a walk, jog, and lope both
ways of the ring. Fall of rider constitutes elimination. The performance
of the horse is not to be judged more important than the performance, position
and general equitation of the rider.
- **Western Horsemanship/Equitation Junior – same
as class 40 but horse never to have won 3 first place ribbons under current
rider. - WH
- **Western Horsemanship/Equitation Child same
as class 53. - WH
- Jack Benny class open to riders 39 and older
to be judged as a pleasure class not restricted as to tack and attire.
- Novice Reining – Open Horses
never having won 3 firsts in reining. Splint and skid boots allowed. Pattern
will be posted. May be shown two-handed in a snaffle or bosal. A novice horse
is such as of January 1st of this year.
- **Reining – Open – Splint and skid boots allowed.
Pattern will be posted. May be shown two-handed in snaffle or bosal. -

- ** Barrel Racing Senior No crops, whips, quirts,
spurs or over and under ropes. Horse may not be hit with the ends of the
reins. Proper bat may be used behind the cinch. May start either right or
left following standard cloverleaf pattern. Penalty of 5 seconds for knocking
over a barrel. Off course constitutes elimination. This is a timed event. -

- Barrel Racing Junior same as class 51
- **Pole Bending Senior – No crops, whips, quirts,
spurs or over and under ropes. Horses may not be hit with the ends of the
reins. Proper bat may be used behind the cinch. Horse and Rider may run down
either right or left side of the poles. At sixth pole, turn and weave poles
for two laps, then run straight back and cross the finish line. Penalty of
5 seconds per pole knocked over. Off course constitutes elimination. This
is a timed event. -

- Pole Bending Junior - same as class 53.1. -

Trail Horse classes to be held in the Dressage Arena.
Riders many compete at their convenience between 10:00 – noon.
- **Trail Horse Open - Horses to be shown at a walk, jog
and lope over and through obstacles. Contestants will be allowed 30 seconds
at each obstacle. If obstacle is not negotiated rider must pass on to next
and so on. Off course constitutes elimination. No boots or wraps. Horse
performance to be judged: 60% - manners; 20% - appointments; 20% - conformation.
No CROSS ENTRIES WITH CLASSES 56 & 57. -

- Trail Horse Beginner - Horse and/or rider must be in
their first year of showing in trail classes. NO CROSS ENTRIES WITH CLASSES
55 & 57.
- Trail Horse In-hand - Not to be ridden, handler to lead
horse through course. NO CROSS ENTRIES WITH CLASSES 55 & 56.

Under the new Equine Canada rules, a Silver Permit, is required for driving classes, in order to avoid the purchase of a more expensive Permit and more expensive Sport Licences, and to avoid all the red tape and additional costs, the driving classes have been listed as demonstrations.
Driving
All classes to count towards High Point
- (demo) Pleasure Driving Working – Open – A
Pleasure Driving Class in which entries are judged primarily on the suitability
of the horse to provide a pleasant drive. To be shown both ways of the arena
at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. To stand quietly, both
on the rail and while lined up, and to rein back. All entries chosen for a
workout may be worked both ways of the arena at any gait requested by the Judge
and may be asked to execute a figure of eight. Horse(s) to be Judged 70 % on
performance, manners and way of going; 20% on the condition and fit of harness
and vehicle; 10% on Driver’s neatness and attire.
- (demo) Reinmanship – Open – A Pleasure
Driving Class in which entries as judged primarily on the ability and skill
of the Driver. To be shown at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot.
Drivers shall be required to rein back. All drivers chosen for a workout may
be worked at any gait requested by the Judge and may be asked to execute a
figure of eight and/or perform other appropriate tests. Driver to be Judged
75% on handling of reins and whip, control, posture and overall appearance;
25% on condition of harness and vehicle and neatness of attire.
- (demo) Driving Scurries – Open – A course
of 5 cones. Two to be taken around to the right and two to be taken around
to the left and a center cone to be taken either way, as per diagram. Timed
event. 5-point penalty for each break of gait, pull back to trot or be eliminated.
5-point penalty for each displaced cone.
- (demo) Driving Pattern – Open – Entry shall perform individually over a prescribed course, within the time allowed. It is to test the freedom and ease of movement, regularity of paces, the obedience and correct head carriage of driving horses on the move, and also to test the Whip’s knowledge of reining and his/her skill in driving. Test will be mailed upon receipt of entry at $2.00 per test.

The Pass Creek Fall Fair Board wishes to thank all the volunteers
